In a bid to boost the time users spend on the site, videos that hold viewers’ attention will rise higher in searches.
YouTube’s ongoing effort to keep visitors on its pages for longer has taken a new twist, stating it will now rank videos based on the amount of time watched instead of popularity of how many clicks the video may of had.
It follows a similar change the Youtube made to its suggested videos feature in early 2012.
“These changes better surface the videos that viewers actually watch, over those that they click on and then abandon,” Youtube said at the time.
Like many other marketing activities, it is important that you capture the viewers attention early, not just to keep them on board but to keep other coming too.
