Social Media refers more than half of traffic to small business

Just because you own a small business doesn’t mean you can’t rely on social media to help drive traffic to your site.

According to a recent study, more than half of all traffic to small business sites is referred from Facebook and Twitter.

The study showed Facebook alone refers more than 48 percent of small business web traffic, while Twitter drives almost 4 percent.

The study paints a clear picture of the importance of social media for small business marketing.

Another interesting aspect of the study concerns links on small business sites. It shows the most effective small business sites link to other sites.

If you compare the cost of social media investment to the likes of Pay Per Click programs such as Google Adwords – which popular keywords can cost anywhere from $1-$10.

Paying $10 for one click and then the user doesn’t even leave their details will send a small business broke quick!
